Thankful for Thanksgiving

I am very thankful for Thanksgiving this year. I have always loved Thanksgiving, but this year was off from our norm. A change in tradition made for a Dallas weekend this time around. We spent Thursday and Friday at 3 different houses, and made the rounds! (Following the food of course). While it was very different from our past Thanksgivings of eat, watch football, nap, eat, play a game, watch football, nap, eat, etc. in Tulsa- we had a great time. Thursday we spent at Aunt Vicki's and Grandma and Grandads - yes, 2 Thanksgiving meals, and yes, I did partake in both! Friday we spent at our house and since we couldn't go to Coney Island in Tulsa this year, we made our own chili dogs. They were great! Number of hot dogs grilled=32! The Conner men were very productive and built (with help) our retaining wall, a huge job, and on Friday night Justin put Zoe's crib together! YEA!! It looks so good in her room. I meanwhile, am trying to pick out the wall color. So, not the relaxing usual Thanksgiving, but it was great to be able to get some jobs done. Zoe is going to be here before we know it! Good Job Justin and Steve! Thank you Lord, for wonderful family, friends, and the time to be able to spend together.

The hot dog bunch on Friday
Zoe's Cousins!
Catherine and I after meal #2!

Justin building Zoe's Crib! (also see the super cute lamp on the right that Mom bought Zoe! SO ADORABLE! It has owls on it.. Go Chi O :)

And my wall of paint. Hmmmmmmmmm..... BUT, I think I have it figured out now. Thanks to the nice man at Sherman Williams for giving me free samples :)

Zoe's First Shower

My sweet girlfriends threw Zoe and I a shower this past Saturday. It was so much fun and a wonderful afternoon! It was a special time with friends and family and Zoe now has so many cute things! Every little detail of the day was so thoughtful. Of course, the decorations were adorable! Isn't this cute? I am going to put up the sign in Zoe's room - at least for a little while.

The food was delicious! How cute are these animal decorations!

Here are the hostesses (Minus Angie - we missed you!)

Zoe's grandmothers (Lala and GiGi were there as well as 2 of her great grandmas) We missed you Itsy!
And for my friends that have been asking for a belly picture (Mindy) :) Here you go!

You can also check out http://mindyrives.blogspot.com/2009/11/showering-zoe-mae-conner.html (Mindy's Blog) for more pics!
Thank you all for a truly special day. Zoe and I appreciate all the love that went into it. What a beautiful memory. Love each of you dearly,

More on Zoe's Room

Well, I have finally figured out the fabrics for Zoe's room! It took many trips to the fabric store and much debate! Thanks to Mom and Gloria for all their help! (and for trudging to all the stores with me multiple times!) The first picture is of the bedding fabric. The green hearts and the dots will be the bumper and the flower fabric will be the skirt (along with some other tidbits!) The glider will also be in the dot fabric. The other picture is for the drapes. The bird fabric (the name we have lovingly given it) will be the valence with the other green fabric coming down on the sides. I'm sure there is a more technical way to describe it, but you know what I mean :) The lighting is a bit off between the 2 pictures, but you get the idea! Lots of pink and green!

Zoe's Room

Well, I wont show you what it looks like right now, or you might be frightened (Essentially it is our garage sale prepping area). We have ordered new windows for the front of our house that hopefully will be installed by Zoe's Pops within the next 3-4 weeks. Then we can begin! I have ordered Zoe's rug (see below), bought the dresser, and Zoe's grandad (her great grandad actually) is making her her very own bookcase/toy box combo. Its going to be so precious- it looks like a little house! I also bought a glider from this cute resale store (very impressed with my find!) and am getting the cushions recovered with a cute green dot fabric - I think. The dresser and bookshelf are "raw" so we will be painting those fun colors. Her room color, though not finalized yet, will probably be yellow with a slight hint of green in it. Then we can accessorize with lots of color! (I know, who would have thought). It feels good to get some of this picked out even if its not done yet. Hopefully I will be finalizing her bedding and drapes this weekend (Thanks Gloria!). Its going to be precious. I already had the blanket so the bedding will go with it, but not be matchy matchy. I can't wait to see it all come together. Here are some pictures:

The Rug - since we have hardwoods we wanted to find a cute big rug.
The house bookshelf/toy box.
And the blanket. The colors are actually brighter than this picture shows, but basically each letter has a little embroidered picture next to it. (D has a dog, O has an Owl, etc)

Ill post the bedding fabic once its all figured out!

Introducing...

We took a trip to Fredericksburg this weekend to relax and enjoy some time to ourselves. It was a great trip and I will blog more on it later, but we did make one important decision while we were gone. We finally settled on Teeny's name! - though I will always think of her as my Teeny. The name???
Watch the video below of my nephew Maddox to find out!!

video

Good job Maddox! (Isn't he precious) Her full name is going to be Zoe Mae Conner. Mae is my Itsy's (my grandmother's) middle name and I have always wanted to use her name if I had a girl (which I doubted I would with all these Conner boys!). We love you Itsy and Zoe is going to love you so much! When we went to California in September, we wanted to "try out" the name so we started telling Maddox that Aunt Mel had a baby in her tummy named Zoe. It was so cute when he said it (though in the video he doesn't say much of the Z) that we pretty much made our minds up. But we waited until now just to make sure :) Zoe Mae, we can't wait for you to get here!

Ugh.

Whoever said that compression hose make your legs feel better when pregnant was WRONG. I went today to get a pair (before my appt monday -so I could say that i have them). So I got to the store, picked out my size and tried them on - miserable. So I got the next size up. (Plus who wants to work that hard to get on panny hose when you are going to the bathroom a bizillion times a day). I put them on - still miserable, but decided I should at least try it a day to see if it made my legs "feel" better (though they feel fine, its more of a pre-emptive strike). Its like wearing spanx, but tighter and on your entire lower body. I made it the 15 minutes back to my office, had a breakdown in my cube, and went and took them off in the bathroom. They should have a warning label: Warning: Can Cause Pure Misery.

Unwanted Guests

1. I took Kailey to the vet this weekend for her yearly vaccines and was shocked to find out she had a couple fleas! She has never had them before and, of course, being the germo-phobe I am, I was totally grossed out by this and immediately washed everything in our room and had Justin give her a flea bath. Now, its supposed to kill them immediately, but still I didn't want her on our nice clean bed for a couple days, just to make sure. I was fast asleep last night and felt hairy Kailey at the foot of the bed so of course I tried to push her off. She was really fighting me, usually once I nudge her a time or two, she gets up, but I was using all my body weight to try to push her off! Then all the sudden Justin says "Hon, what are you doing!" "I am trying to get Babe off the bed" He says "That's my leg!!!" Oops, in my daze I had pushed him half off the bed! Oh well, definitely not the craziest thing I have dreamed up while pregnant.

2. I also am going to have to invite something else into my house which I have taken great pains to avoid. The intruder - hosiery. That's right those horrible things you put on your legs, or at least some people do. I personally have not worn them since the Favorites Dance in 1996. But apparently I have not the greatest circulation and the hose in question combat the after effects of bad circulation. So, I suppose I will go buy some this weekend. Don't expect to see me anywhere but work in them though. Justin thought this was mighty funny (though he does feel bad for me) and his Dad suggested he wear them for a day to help lessen my misery. I personally think this is a great and entertaining idea! Any takers?
